Special Features

In addition to shape tween and motion tween, their is also few effects that you will learn how to use on this page

The first one called guided layer movement, in motion tween we can move objects in straight lines, in guided layer movement we can actually paint a line which the object will move on. The second effect you will learn in this page is called Mask Layer, which allows you to reveal chosen parts from the movie, like a telescope or sight.

Guided Layer Movement
To create a simple guided layer movement so you will understand how it works, open a new file with white background color and size of 500X500, Now make sure that the View>>>Snap To Objects option is not active. Draw a rocket, and make it a symbol by pressing F8, call it rocket and check it as Graphic. Move the symbol to the left lower corner, and change it's angel to look like it's going to launch to the upper right. Go to frame 30 in the time-line and convert it to a Keyframe by pressing F6. In this frame drag the symbol to the right lower corner, and turn it to the ground. Make a motion tween effect between these two keyframes. if you will press ctrl+enter to preview your movie you will see the rocket moving from left to right. Round the time-line there is a small button - Add Motion Guide, press it. You have a new motion guide layer. Select frame 1 of the guide layer, and using the line tool, paint a line between the first place of the rocket to it's last place. With the arrow tool make the line to a curve. so it will look like the opposite of U. Lock the guide layer.  Now check the movie with ctrl+F5, if it still not working, in frame 1 make sure the option View>>>Snap To Objects is on and drag the rocket to the line, until you got a small black circle. Do the same in frame 30. Now it should work just fine.

Mask Layer
To create a simple mask layer so you will understand how it works, open a new file with white background color and size of 500X500, Now make sure that the View>>>Snap To Objects option is not active.  Draw a lot of red rectangles with no border and make sure that each rectangle doesn't touch another, name this layer to 'red rects'. Add new layer and name it to 'circle'. with the ellipse tool draw a ellipse in black color with no border. Double click on the circle layer, and in the layer properties change the layer type to mask. Now double click on the red rects layer and change it type to masked layer. And the last thing is to click with the right mouse button on the red rects layer, and select Show Masking. You have a mask layer, now you can start animate it to look like a sniper, or like a telescope.
