Animation

Animation is a special art by itself, and you can understand it from the word "animation" which means to make things move. The animator can take a still object and to give it personality and movement.

If we  understand the first and the oldestype of animation  which is to make a illusion that something is moving, for example to draw a airplane in three different places on three different pages and show them one after the other this  will give an illlusion imagine that the airplane is moving.  Actually this is how animation was done  in the old day,and this is  called Frame by Frame animation. You can also make a cycle animation with this type of animation.

Frame By Frame

The next guides are for people which learned the topics on the previous page and are ready to proceed and learn animation.

In flash you can use a animation method called Shape Tween.
Shape Tween is one of the built-in methods for animation in   flash. Using this animation method allows you to create animation which one graphic shape transforming to another shape.
To create a simple shape tween so you will understand how it works, open a new file with white background color and size of 500X300, Now make sure that the View>>>Snap To Objects option is not active. Draw  a rectangle with no border in a red fill in thecolor on the center of the stage. From the time-line go to frame 10 and create a KeyFrame by the F6 Button. Delete this frame content by the Delete Button. In frame 10, which is empty now, paint a blue circle with no border in the same place where the rectangle was. And the last thing to do is to select all of the frames between 1 to 10, and on the properies bar, in the Tween option select Shape. You Have Done It.

You can also use another animation methods that are called Motion Tween.
Shape Tween is one of the built-in methods for animation in flash. This animation method has a lot of pluses, it saves time, file size and compatibility. In the past , to create a movement you had to paint each frame by itself, but today, using the motion tween you can just move your graphic element to a start position and end position and you get an animation.
To create a simple motion tween, so you will understand how it works, open a new file with white background color and size of 500X300, Now make sure that the View>>>Snap To Objects option is not active. Paint a spaceship, select the the paint, and make them a symbol by the F8 button, name it spaceship and make it a Graphic. Put the spacehip on the left side of the stage, select Frame number 50 and make it a KeyFrame by the F5 Button, and move the spaceship to the right side of the stage. Now click the right mouse button on one of the frames between them and select Motion Tween. You Have Done a Moving SpaceShip.

Shape And Motion Tween Example

Now you can animate things by yourself, this is the basic of flash, but it is a good way to start.
